So on this virtual tour, which begins at a rain-inspired sculpture in Chicago, we will celebrate these six actors and the delightfully entertaining Hollywood musical for which they are remembered. The Breakfast Club and Chicago Through location and music, discover how 'The Breakfast Club' defines a generation of moviegoers. All Talks About This hour-long program on the 1985 movie The Breakfast Club unfolds in two parts: First, guests walk virtually around the former suburban Chicago high school where The Breakfast Club filmed. While we cannot go inside with a video camera (we have pics though!), we can explore the building's exterior and learn how it reflects a group of teenagers who feel imprisoned by their high school culture, peers, and parents. Second, guests will examine Simple Minds' song "Don't You (Forget about Me)," featured memorably in The Breakfast Club . In the process, they will hear behind-the-scenes stories from the teen film, learn about the music's connections to MTV, and understand how the iconic song still functions as a metaphor for victory. One-Shot Wednesday On Wednesdays, guess the Chicago-based movie or television show from one screenshot. Somebody Somewhere Somebody Somewhere is a 30-minute dramedy on HBO (Max) described as "distinctly Midwestern." That makes sense since the series takes place amidst cornfields, limestone houses, and abandoned strip malls. The Midwest setting is also reminiscent of the Kansas upbringing of the show’s star, comedian Bridget Everett, who plays Sam. Despite its Kansas setting, Somebody Somewhere is actually filmed in suburban Chicago, primarily in Lockport, Warrenville, and Naperville. In this screenshot, Sam's sister Tricia (Mary Catherine Garrison) and her best friend, Charity (Heidi Johanningmeier), stand outside the home decor and knickknacks shop they own, Tender Moments. Charmingly, the store’s name is a tribute to the actual band with which Bridget Everett performs , The Tender Moments. Welcome to One-Shot Wednesday! Think you’re a Chicago screen buff? Every Wednesday, join us in guessing the Chicago-based movie or television show from one screenshot. Visit our archive to play the ones you missed! One-Shot Wednesday On Wednesdays, guess the Chicago-based movie or television show from one screenshot. The Killer In David Fincher's latest thriller, The Killer (2023), a pivotal scene set in New York was actually filmed in the Chicago suburb of St. Charles at the historic Hotel Baker . That is the focus—or should we say, shallow focus —of today’s screenshot. In the scene about to unfold, The Killer (Michael Fassbender) has just arrived at a swanky restaurant, where he and The Expert (Tilda Swinton) will share a tense interaction before tragedy unfolds. The screenshot shows the exterior of Hotel Baker’s Waterfront Ballroom (not actually a restaurant). The location overlooks the Fox River and normally functions as a space for small wedding receptions. On Facebook, the suburban Chicago hotel embraced its cinematic role despite being disguised in the film. The Killer filmed in Chicago in February and March 2022 in various locations across the city, including Chicago’s Union Station, as you can see in this screenshot . Welcome to One-Shot Wednesday! Every Wednesday, join us in guessing the Chicago-based movie or television show from one screenshot. Visit our archive to play the ones you missed! One-Shot Wednesday On Wednesdays, guess the Chicago-based movie or television show from one screenshot. Ferris Bueller's Day Off From Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986), this is an extreme close-up of the reservation book for a (fake) restaurant called Chez Quis. In the scene, Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) enters the fancy Chicago restaurant, sneaks a peek at the reservation book, picks the name Abe Froman , and then pretends to be Froman for the next hour or so. Spot Froman’s name at the top left corner of today’s screenshot. Almost 40 years after audiences were introduced to Chez Quis, the made-up restaurant—alongside other Chicago landmarks and items in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off —ushered in 2025 in the 136th Tournament of Roses Parade . Enjoy Illinois , the state’s official tourism website, showcased this Ferris Bueller’s Day Off-themed float at the 136th Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day 2025. The float featured the following: Chez Quis’s sign Wrigley Field marquee Calder’s Flamingo Sears Tower “Save Ferris” water tower Red sports car Floral homage to Georges Seurat’s 1886 Sunday on La Grande Jatte . Illinois native Brian Culbertson performed “Danke Schoen,” and the parade—themed “Best Day Ever!”—concluded with the Rose Bowl Game. Ferris Bueller proves yet again that life moves pretty fast—and it’s worth stopping to enjoy the ride! Watch a montage of the float being assembled here . Welcome to One-Shot Wednesday!
