The Wizard of Oz (1939) was first shown on television on November 3, 1956. The movie musical played again on this day in 1959. From then on, the network TV airing of The Wizard of Oz became an annual tradition.

Although filmed in Hollywood and set in Kansas, The Wizard of Oz has Chicago connections. In this short virtual tour, follow Chicago's yellow brick road to the spot where L.
