Ferris Bueller and Marshall Field's

Learn how Ferris' Bueller's iconic vest/tee pairing started

Film still

Did you know the patterned vest Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) wears into Chicago on his day off was initially a cardigan?

According to Marilyn Vance, costume designer for Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,

“I couldn't find anything I liked so I lopped the sleeves off. I got it in Chicago at Marshall Field’s in the men’s department.”

Ferris' vest/tee pairing has become such an iconic look, that when shopping for a Ferris Bueller Halloween costume, that's what you're gonna get.
