About
In this movie talk and accompanying virtual tour, explore the intersection of film history, animal performers, and cemetery lore.
In the first half of this talk, you'll be transported to Illinois' oldest pet cemetery. Here, we'll uncover the tales of the first onscreen dogs. As we stroll, we'll discuss the concept "cinema of attractions" and ponder Hollywood's gradual recognition of the need for animal protection and the slow evolution of ethical standards in the entertainment industry.
In the second half of Cinematic Canines and Circus Stars in Chicagoland Cemeteries, our exploration leads you to another cemetery, this one including 750 plots exclusively reserved for circus and sideshow performers. Amidst the headstones, we'll discover connections between this unique locale and the world of film and television. Finally, we'll also confront shadows of the past, exploring this area's haunted history.
Join Chicago Movie Tours on this journey through two Chicagoland's cemeteries.
